Why So Many Christian Women Struggle With Feeling “Not Enough”
Mar 14, 2026
The Hidden Belief That May Be Costing You More Than You Realize
Every single one of us is living our lives through the filter of a belief.
Most of the time, we don’t even realize it’s there.
But that belief quietly shapes how we interpret situations, how we respond to others, and how we see ourselves. It influences the decisions we make, the pressure we put on ourselves, and the expectations we carry.
And often… it’s costing us more than we realize.
The Hidden Belief I Lived With for Years
For most of my life, I struggled deeply with insecurity.
Over the past eight years, I’ve been on a personal growth and healing journey that has helped me uncover the root behind that struggle. And what I discovered surprised me.
The hidden belief underneath so much of my insecurity was this:
I am rejectable.
I am forgettable.
I am a disappointment.
Those beliefs shaped the way I showed up in the world.
Without even realizing it, I spent most of my life trying to prove to others that I wasn’t a disappointment. I worked hard to make sure I was good enough so I wouldn’t be rejected. I tried to show up in ways that would make sure I wasn’t overlooked or forgotten.
And filtering every thought, every circumstance, and every word through that lens is exhausting.
When you’re constantly trying to protect yourself from feeling the same hurt that originally planted that belief, life becomes about performance instead of peace.
The Truth Is: You Probably Have a Hidden Belief Too
I know I’m not alone in this.
You likely have a belief that was planted long ago that is quietly shaping how you live today.
And you might not even realize it’s there.
Many women assume their struggle is about discipline or motivation.
They tell themselves things like:
“I just need to try harder.”
“I need to be more consistent.”
“I need to do better.”
But often, the real issue isn’t discipline.
It’s fear.
When Striving Looks Like Something Good
For many Christian women, striving hides in plain sight.
It often disguises itself with words that sound good and admirable:
• Excellence
• Responsibility
• Leadership
• Being dependable
On the surface, these things seem healthy.
But underneath them can be a quiet belief whispering:
“If I don’t do this well, I won’t be enough.”
And so we keep pushing.
We keep improving.
We keep criticizing ourselves.
We keep trying to do better.
But that fear-driven striving slowly steals something from us.
It steals our peace.
When Fear Is the Real Root
When a hidden belief is driving our behavior, it changes the way we interpret everything.
A small mistake feels like proof that we’re failing.
Silence from someone feels like rejection.
Criticism feels like confirmation that we’re not enough.
So we try harder.
We work more.
We push ourselves further.
Not because we truly want to grow, but because we’re trying to protect ourselves from feeling that old wound again.
But God never designed us to live from fear.
He designed us to live from security in Him.
Healing Begins When the Hidden Becomes Visible
Over the past eight years, I’ve learned something powerful:
You cannot uproot what you cannot see.
So many women are trying to change their behavior when what actually needs healing is the belief underneath the behavior.
And sometimes, you need someone to help you uncover the hidden beliefs you’ve been carrying for years.
Not with shame.
Not with pressure.
But with compassion, truth, and guidance.
An Invitation for Women Ready to Stop Proving Their Worth
After years of walking this journey personally, I feel deeply called to help other women walk through this same process of healing and freedom.
Because so many women are living with the exhausting pressure of believing they have something to prove.
And you don’t.
If you’re local near the Twin Cities, I’m hosting a special workshop for Christian women who are tired of striving to prove their worth and are ready to live from rooted confidence instead.
In this workshop, we’ll begin identifying the hidden fears and beliefs that quietly drive our striving so we can start replacing them with truth.
And if you’re not local or can’t attend the workshop, I’d love to walk alongside you through coaching as you uncover and heal the beliefs that have been keeping you stuck.
You don’t need more pressure.
You don’t need to try harder.
What you may need is the space to uncover the hidden beliefs that are keeping you disconnected from the peace and identity God intended for you.
When those beliefs are uprooted, your life begins to grow from a completely different place.
From deeper roots.
From truth.
From connection with your Creator.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you.
